"You three shall guide these kingdoms in my stead."
-Emperor Horse Malong Shen
Biography
Admiral Horse Malong Shen was the reincarnate of the Horse Zodiac and the Emperor of Shilon from 450-2613 RH until he mandated his younger brother Ren the title. His relic; The Horse's Blazing Banner, was an impeccable weapon that scorched the ends of the fabric white hot. When hoisted in battle, it roused nearby allies with great courage and might and became a worshiped symbol of Shilon. It is unknown whether this was another power of the banner or was because of Malong's great leadership skills and inspiring presence. Due to this Malong was often considered a war deity associated with motivation and courage, making him one of the most beloved zodiacs alongside Jing Lee.
After ruling Shilon for over two thousand years, he yearned to revel in the simple joys of life and sought a successor. Therefore Shen Hai issued three zodiacs; a dragon, an ox, and a snake. Malong raised and mentored them and when the time came he forfeited his title to the dragon (Ren Shen) and substituted his position to Admiral.
Malong treasured his times of retirement, but a horse cannot stay in the stables forever. In 3100 RH Dragon Emperor Ren sought to expand the kingdoms and ordered Malong and his men to journey down to the Surochi plains and convince their monks to be annexed into the Shilon Kingdoms. Malong arrived but failed to convince the Surochi patriarch despite his charm. However, he enjoyed the warmth and hospitality of the southern plains and decided to stay.
In the night, Malong woke up to the earth crumbling upon the footsteps of the vicious yaoguai Rou Shan, who had begun a rampage among the temples of Suzaku. For five days the old horse pursued the titan until he chopped him into seven pieces with his blazing banner. However, in the catalyst of Rou Shan's body, a tooth fell upon Malong and injected him with a god-killing poison. Knowing he was on his last legs, he spent his last moments marching toward the Divine Pillar for he wanted to rest there. Unfortunately, the old horse weakened and beaten was unable to reach his home and instead took his last step into a small valley, where one of the farmers walked him to get a better view of his kingdom.

The battle between Malong and Rou Shan is reminiscent of the battle between the Norse thunder god Thor and Jörmungandr during the events of Ragnarök.
